The KS-SRA100 adapter lets you control a SIRIUS satellite radio with your JVC stereo. This adapter works with newer JVC stereos equipped with a CD changer connection, letting you control either of the following:

  • the SC-C1 SiriusConnect universal tuner;
  • a compatible SIRIUS portable radio, like the Sportster, Starmate, Stratus, or Stiletto, together with a SiriusConnect vehicle kit.

The KS-SRA100 adapter sends song text to the JVC stereo's display, and lets you browse SIRIUS channels by using your JVC stereo's controls. The adapter powers your satellite radio and includes a pass-through connection, so you can add another piece of JVC gear to your car stereo system. Warranty: 1 year.

Note: A subscription to SIRIUS is also required. Satellite radio service is available only within the lower 48 states — not available in Hawaii or U.S. territories. Limited service is available in Alaska.

General Overview: The JVC KS-SRA100 is a J-BUS Sirius Satellite Radio Interface that allows you to connect the SiriusConnect Vehicle Tuner (SC-C1, sold separately) or SiriusConnect Vehicle Dock with a portable Plug&Play Sirius Tuner (sold separately) to your compatible Satellite Ready J-BUS JVC headunit. You will also need a subscription to Sirius Satellite Radio.

Note: The KS-SRA100 Sirius Satellite Radio Interface is not a stand alone unit. You must purchase a SC-SC1 SiriusConnect Vehicle Tuner or SiriusConnect Vehicle Dock with a portable Plug&Play Sirius Tuner to plug into your compatible JVC headunit along with a subscription to Sirius Satellite Radio.

SIRIUS Satellite Radio: SIRIUS Satellite Radio features more than 120 streams of original programming beamed coast-to-coast, including 65 streams of commercial-free, digital-quality music, and news, talk, sports, entertainment, and children's programming.

Note: Satellite radio service is available only within the continental United States. Service is not available in Alaska and Hawaii.

Compatibility: The KS-SRA100is compatible with all Sat-Radio Ready J-BUS JVC Head-units and requires an optional SiriusConnect Universal Vehicle Tuner (item 607SCC1) or SiriusConnect Vehicle Dock (not yet released) and portable Plug&Play Sirius Tuner. The following 2007-2008 J-BUS JVC headunits are compatible.

Functions: The KS-SRA100 adapter sends song text to your JVC stereo's display, and lets you browse SIRIUS channels using your radio's controls.

Mounting: The hide-away interface features built-in flanges and comes with four self-tapping screws to secure the unit to a flat surface of your vehicle. The supplied J-BUS cable which plugs into the KS-SRA100 interface and the back of your compatible JVC headunit is 8' long, so keep that in mind when selecting a location for the interface module.

Front Panel of Tuner:

  • J-BUS Connections: Two proprietary J-BUS connections.
    • To Head Unit: for use with the supplied J-BUS cable to connect the Sirius Satellite Radio Interface to your compatible JVC headunit.
    • Pass-Thru: to add a compatible J-BUS JVC CD changer. The J-BUS cable supplied with the changer plugs in this connection.
  • Power: 4-pin molex plug used to connect supplied Power/Ground harness

Back Panel of Tuner:

  • Sirius: 8-pin DIN port for connecting the SiriusConnect SC-C1 Vehicle Tuner or SiriusConnect Vehicle Dock and Portable Tuner (sold separately). The cable is provided with the SC-C1 Vehicle Tuner or SiriusConnect Tuner Dock.

This is what Sirius only subscribers who wish to upgrade their head units need. Not the SiriusXM SXV200V1 Satellite Radio Tuner. It works well, doesn't seem to lose signal that much compared to my old Kenwood tuner. Easy enough to install except for the plug on the head unit end of the cable, it is difficult to insert. Overpriced, especially when combined with necessary SiriusConnect Car-only Tuner, in addition to new $200 head unit.

Pretty Good signal. Allows me to keep my Sirius

Works Great. Installation was very easy. I have an aftermarket JVC stereo so I needed the interface of course. I was worried about some of the bad reviews till I noticed that they were from at least 3-4 years ago. I think they must have fixed their glitches since no problems experienced here. In my vehicle the sound is great and so much better then FM and most likely CD or Thumb drive. It looks intimidating since you needs two adapters but there is nothing to them really. Just two wires fro power, run the connector between them, and place the antenna. Bingo your done. Been very pleased with the product.
Pros:
Easy Install, Great Sound, Nice look all kept at your receiver-no cheesy window suction cup thing needed.
Cons:
Two adapters that you have to find a place for, cords are too long

The JVC KS-SRA100 works great between the JVC Arsenal KDA735BT and the Sirius SC-VDOC1 and my Sirius Starmate 5. It is held with zip-ties under the dash and after more than six months, I've had no problems with it or the connections coming loose.
Pros:
A necessary unit that works well.
Cons:
None.

Error 8 code

Within 10 minutes of using Sirius in my truck, I will get an "Error 8" display code or the display will go to "Acquiring" and Sirius will not work. Everything else on my JCV stereo works great, except for Sirius.

JVC told me to check the wires, which I had the guys who installed it do. Everything was hooked up fine. Then they said it was pretty common problem with the power hookup. When that didn't work, they had me mail them my old KS-SRA100. I had that installed and the same problem happened.

It is either two bad KS-SRA100 devices in a row or just bad JVC products overall. Wish I purchased something else.
Pros:
When it works, it sounds really nice.
Cons:
Reliability - it is junk JVC documentation is very poor

Problems...

Purchased this unit June 8, 2010 as a part of a major upgrade to my vehicle system (JVC KW-NT3HDT) - received the ALERT-08 code continually, which as is listed in another customer review - means check all connections.

All connections are good - and the only remedy seems to be to unplug & replug the cables to this device (every time I power up the system).

I'm told this is the only interface for the JVC Head Unit - so, unless the replacement box fixes the problem - I'll need to send the (awesome) JVC head unit back as well.... Kinda not fun -

not sure if this is strictly the function of this unit or the head unit (I have a JVC
KW-AVX810), but I was disappointed that I couldn't do standard things I did
with my stand alone, cheapo sirius tuner such as pause the stream or store
favorite songs / artists as well as the listing of channels didn't include the
number, nor could I access a channel by typing in it's #. Again, some or all of
this may be just a function of the head unit, but I think it's good to have this
information here as well...

Good functionality, bad sound quality

I used this to replace my old Clarion satellite radio when I switched to the JVC KD-AVX44 source unit.

All of the controls and display is great, but I'm only giving it 3 stars because the sound quality is not very good. The sound quality with my old Clarion Sirius tuner, and my Alpine tuner in my other car is much better.

Also, you have to run power wires to it seperately, where as with the old units (one box connected to the source, instead of two), the only connections were to the antenna and the source. It's kind of a pain to splice the power and ground wires in when you install it, especially when J-Bus is capable of powering it anyways.

Overall, it gets the job done, but it makes me stray away from Sirius music, and stick to the talk channels most of the time.

Been having issues

I have had this unit since the first of the year. I have been getting a RESET 08 code on my deck which means to check all connections. When it does this the display on the screen does not change but the station will just not show. So I unlpug eventhing, once i disconnnet and reconnect eveything seems to work again. I have had to do this atleast I would say more then 10 times that i can remember from owning it. I have called JVC and basically they say make sure it is hooked up right. They say that it could be cuased by the Sirius SCC1 unit but i dont that. So after being fed up with it not wokring right I call and they say you can send it it and be tested and it is under a 1 year replacment warranty if anythign is wrong with it. But that means no satalite radio for the shipping and replacement time. :( When it works I love it and sems to be great. Just this issue is all I have had.

Time will tell if it's worth it

I used to own a Sirius Connect JVC-SIR1 tuner. I had that for about 1 year (had problems from time to time) before it finally stopped working. After doing research on the net, I found out MANY people had problems with this same unit. Anyway, I was without my SIRIUS for about 8-9 months and was SOOOOO happy to hear when this item was coming out. I purchased this, along with the SC-C1 Universal tuner for my JVC head unit. Upon installation, sound was only coming out of my LEFT speakers ! ! Since this KS-SRA100 is almost IMPOSSIBLE to find in stores, as with the SC-C1, they could not test both items to see which one was defective. Because of this, I had to return BOTH items for a full refund. I am STILL without SIRIUS in my car. Only time will tell if this unit is worth it. I am just starting to lose ALL faith in Sirius Connect products. Maybe some positive reviews will change my mind.
