Just plug in the SC-H1 tuner, set up the provided indoor/outdoor satellite radio antenna, and activate your SIRIUS subscription. The supplied connection cable lets you control the tuner through your receiver — it also lets your receiver display song, artist and other information. Stereo RCA audio outputs and an optical digital output give you additional options for connecting the tuner to your system.

Features

Overview: The SIRIUS SC-H1 satellite radio tuner allows you to receive, control, and play SIRIUS satellite programming for your SIRIUS-ready or SAT Radio-ready home receiver. It is not for stand-alone use; it has no controls or display.

SIRIUS Satellite Radio: SIRIUS Satellite Radio has over 120 channels of entertainment and music. In addition to the more than 65 original channels of commercial-free, SIRIUS offers more than 55 channels of sports, news, and entertainment. SIRIUS 1st Traffic and Weather also provides continuous local weather and traffic reports for 20 major U.S. cities. A subscription is required to enjoy SIRIUS Satellite Radio programming.

Compatibility: The SIRIUS SC-H1 SiriusConnect tuner is compatible with select SIRIUS-ready and SAT Radio-ready home AV receivers. SIRIUS-ready receivers must have the SiriusConnect 8-pin DIN connection to be compatible.

Audio and Power Connections: The SC-H1 can be powered in one of two ways. In some cases, the SIRIUS-ready or SAT Radio-ready home receiver provides power to the tuner through the supplied 8-pin DIN cable. If the receiver does not provide power via the DIN cable, the supplied AC adapter can be used to power the tuner. Likewise, if the receiver does not support the audio input via the DIN cable connection, the audio output may be connected to the sound system via an RCA patch cord (not supplied) or optical digital cable (not supplied). The antenna input is a male SMB Jack, compatible with the included antenna, or a dedicated outdoor antenna installation kit having a female SMB Plug on the antenna cable.

Indicator Light: The SC-H1 has an indicator light on one end to provide basic status information about the tuner:

  • Steady Red: initial power-on indication
  • Flashing Red: indicates that the antenna is not connected to the tuner
  • Steady Amber: indicates that the antenna is connected to the tuner, but no signal is being received
  • Steady Green: indicates that the tuner is functioning properly and receiving a good signal

Wall Mounting: The tuner can be mounted on a wall, or on a vertical panel of an equipment cabinet, using two #10 screws. Two slots, spaced 1-1/4" apart on the bottom of the tuner, will accommodate the screws.

We are really happy with this Sirius SC-H1. We have it connected to Onkyo T-4555 Multi-Platform Tuner. We bought the SC-H1 to replace an XM mini tuner we had for about 2.5 years. When the XM tuner failed, we discovered it was no longer in production. We listen to Sirius radio throughout our house - on the deck, in the kitchen, den, master bedroom and master bathroom. We do not use the antenna included with this Sirius tuner as we have an antenna mounted to our roof. I do receive station, artist and song title information throughout my house via my Onkyo T-4555.
Pros:
Installation was quick and easy. I also recommend purchasing the 3-year warranty.
Cons:
No cons to report currently.

The SC-HI is very simple to hook up. Just plug it in and use it. Of course you need to activate the XM unit by calling Serius XM. The XM unit works perfectly fine. My only complaint is that the sound quality is less than I expected. My FM radio sounds great. My CD player sounds great. The sound quality is different from station to station. I called Serius and they admit it needs to be reset from there end every now and then. So it is what it is. Very important that the antenna face south. It's weather proof so you can mount it outside. It does work well outside.
Pros:
Easy to hook up. Plug and play. And thank you Crutchfield team.
Cons:
Sound quality just OK.

Bought a new home Sirius-Ready home tuner and bought the SC-H1. Has it's own plug on back of tuner. Just plug in antenna and power. As soon as I turned on tuner and switched to Sirius the welcome page popped up. All I did was call and activate and I had Sirius! This was the easiest part of hooking up the new system.! Also antenna has long cord but I have mine on shelf near window for now and it works pretty good though I am going to mount outside

Functionally, this little tuner really gets the job done. The only thing I miss is seeing the artist and song information, but that's probably a limitation of my receiver. SiriusAM in the home is great!

I connected this unit to an Onkyo TX-SR608 Sirius Ready Receiver and it works great! I have the antenna by the window facing the direction the manual recommends. Just take the time to aim the antenna properly to get the best signal possible.

I connected this to a satellite ready Yamaha R-S500 receiver. Set-up, activation and ease of use are great. You do have to allow for at least 3 more wires (adapter, coax, and DIN) behind your system and a small place to put the tuner. Once set-up it's completely integrated and operation is seamless.
Pros:
Easy set-up, activation & functionality
Cons:
More wires and the dedicated tuner doesn't have the flexibility of a Sirius faceplate receiver that can be used in multiple locations.

Installation was easy and worked fine. Antenna placement was tricky but it did work from inside

Works fine with my Onkyo Receiver
Cons:
Used supplied power adapter to power Tuner, my Onkyo does not power as i thought it would. Not a real problem, I just misunderstood what I read about the Onkyo. Audio worked fine through the Onkyo with the cable supplied with this tuner.

Home Connect gives Sirius programming an improved playback experience. One touch on, and seamless interaction with my A/V receiver's tools and remote are convenient and intuitive. There just might be better gain in signal strength!

what can one say, you have no other way to use the new "Sirius" ready receivers with out this product. After saying all that I still bought 2 of these units. Their product has never quit on me and the antenna is a snap to hook up. If you are ever serious about Sirius you'll need one for each radio.

Have it paired with an DTR-8 and utilize the optical digital audio input. Sound is exceptional. Like the small size. The unit does not last very long. I am on my 3RD one within five years. Added the extended 3-yr warranty for an additional 10 bucks on the last one ordered. Wish they would just sell the replacement unit. Paying for the power source, cables and antenna is ridiculous. It's used almost 24-7, still no reason for such a short life.

Small size, optical digital audio output.
Cons:
Does not last long. Includes unnecessary components.

I have been putting off buying this for a long time. I regret not buying it sooner. I bought it for my Integra preamp and it works flawlessly. The install took a whole 5 minutes and I was up and running. I highly recommend getting an outdoor antenna as I did just so you don't have a little box sitting on your window. Other than that, you'll love this little tuner.

This is my 3rd SIRIUS SC-H1 unit in 2 years. The 1st one had a short in it and was replaced right away. The 2nd one worked for nearly 2 years and then stopped working. I'm on my 3rd one and bought the extended warranty with it because it is such a poor quality product and the warranty is cheaper than the expected replacement. I still love my Sirius radio and a have a lifetime subscription so it is a necessary evil. Just wish Sirius put out quality electronics.

Great little product, would strongly recommend if buying a receiver that supports the service. I am sure glad I did. My only hang up and it is probably related to my location, but I had a bit of trouble trying to get a good signal. I would guess most won't but because of the trees in my area, and lack of open sky, I struggled. Well worth it though once I found a place. I only wish I had gotten involved with sirius earlier, commerical free!!

Great product. Suggest connecting it to an outdoor antenna for maximum reception using the outdoor antenna offered on the Sirius website. I used the Cable TV/Satellite radio antenna using coaxial cable. Connected it to my Sony AV Receiver and it worked perfectly.

I suggest if you get this tuner you also get a stereo that has a direct hook-up using the din cable. This way you have a display and control through your stereo tuner. I'm not sure how it would work using a RCA cable. The antenna works great. I have it on a table in my bedroom next to a wall with no window nearby. No problem with the reception. The first SC-H1 tuner I got died within an hour. I called Crutchfield and they had a new one mailed immediately. They gave me a return lable via e-mail. I recieved the new tuner in two days. I'm very happy with the tuner and with Crutchfield.
