Accele's RVC1150 rear view camera can help you back in or out of parking spaces, day or night. This tiny, metal-cased camera mounts "OEM-style" — once you drill a hole to mount it and snap it into position, it'll look like it came with your car from the factory. Features

Overview: The Accele RVC1150 rearview camera is designed to provide you a clear wide-angle view from the rear of your vehicle. It can be used to assist you in backing up the vehicle, or to keep an eye on an item you are towing. The rearview camera features a IP67 waterproof housing. It can be connected to a separate rear-view monitor, or to many in-dash audio-video head units with a composite video or rear-camera input.

Compatibility: The Accele RVC1150 rearview camera features a standard composite video output (RCA plug) which makes it compatible with virtually any mobile video monitor featuring a rear view camera input.

Rearview Camera: The RVC1150's rearview camera features a 1/3" color CCD image sensor with approximately 259,776 effective pixels (528 horizontal x 492 vertical). The rearview camera offers a 170° vertical and horizontal viewing angle providing an excellent field of vision behind you in your vehicle. The rearview camera provides minimum illumination of 0.2 lux.

Mounting Bracket: The RVC1150's integrated mounting bracket allows you to flush-mount the rearview camera. The camera MUST be mounted to the underside of your vehicle's rear bumper or other horizontal surface. Mounting in any other position will result in an upside-down or sideways image. A 22.5mm (0.89") hole saw is included to drill out a hole for the integrated mounting bracket.

Warning: Make sure you confirm the proper camera orientation before drilling the mounting hole in your vehicle.

Supplied Cables: The rearview camera features an attached 18" power/signal cable which connects to the supplied 16.5' composite video cable and 57" power/ground cable. The composite video cable is then routed from outside of the vehicle through your vehicle's interior to your vehicle's display monitor or optional stand-alone monitor. The power/ground cable needs be connected to your vehicle's 12-volt electrical system.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This unit provides a clear picture, but does not have any distance markings like every other backup camera I've tried. These really are extremely helpful when backing into a space. Also, this unit is not aim-able and is canted at a steep angle toward the ground. If installed in an elevated location -- such as a pickup tailgate -- this would be fine, but in my Subaru, the bottom 40% of the picture is always asphalt.

Also, there are no instructions included with this unit and the camera output has a full-size RCA plug which is impossible to pull through the tiny boot that carries the wiring from the liftgate to the chassis.

For the price, I would expect these things to be in place.

Pros:

clear picture, good low-light vision

Cons:

no distance overlay, no adjustable angle, no instructions, not simple to install

This product worked great for a high mount on the back of my truck cap. I made my own enclosure to get the up side down position. The manufacturer has this camera in other options for mounting.

Works great, especially if you review the photo provided on the Crutchfield item page and notice the orientation of the camera. If you somehow miss that, they also have the following bolded in their item details page:

Warning: Make sure you confirm the proper camera orientation before drilling the mounting hole in your vehicle.

Rating this camera poorly because of your installation error is bad form.

Super low profile. Clean install.

Upside Down

I loved everything about the kit. Drill bit of correct size etc. Clean install. But the picture is upside down. I don't see that I can rotate the lense in the assembly. My Pioneer DVD head unit does not have a function to flip image. I have a hole in my tailgate now and if I move it I will be left with a hole. If I rotate the camera it will point at the sky...

Pros:

Nice kit. Clean installation.

Cons:

Upside down with no adjustment.

Accele RVC1150

Came without a shred of documentation. Not even a warranty card. The Accele web site was also no help. After much internet searching a friend and I just "winged" it and got it installed. Once we determined the mounting location, it just became a matter of running the cable to the back of the radio. Works fine, but would prefer a more integrated tie in to the use of reverse. Most intimidating part of the installation is actually drilling through the car body to install the camera. It's all about location, location, location. I paired it with a Pioneer AVH-P440BH video receiver and it works well.

Pros:

Good video resolution.

Cons:

No documentation or "installation hints" from the manufacturer or Crutchfield tech support.

Nice little camera

I installed this little guy in my 2011 Dodge ram 1500. I try to mount in the rear tailgate door handle like to stock one but the angle of the camera is not great enough to get a good view of the ground right in front of the rear bumper. I ended up drilling a hole in the bottom of the bumper right next to the tow-hitch and found that it works out better because now I could line up my tow hitch ball without getting out of the truck. The radio I am using is the Kenwood DNX7190HD And it plugs right in. Picture quality is perfect. I highly recommend this camera.
