M1 Series Power Amp: The Musical Fidelity M1 PWR power amplifier
consists of a Class-D power amp circuit giving exceptional performance into
virtually any speakers. The M1 PWR features efficient switching technology with
zero crossover distortion artifacts, and with just the right amount of feedback
to give the best sound quality possible. It is complemented with a generous
universal voltage power supply circuit, allowing astounding imaging, detail and
transparency, to deliver all music types exactly as the artist originally
intended.
60-watt (8ohm)/130-watt (4ohm) x 2-Channel: The Musical Fidelity M1
PWR delivers a comfortable 60-watts per channel into 8 ohms, which doubles into
4 ohms at 130-watts per channel.
Monoblock Mode: The M1 PWR may also be used in a monoblock mode (with
a matching amplifier for the other channel) in which the power output is
considerably increased. In mono-block mode, achieved by simply sliding a
rear-panel switch, the M1 PWR becomes a 100-watt power amplifier into 8-ohms, able to
deliver 200-watt transient peak capacity into 4ohms.
Bi-Wiring (in monoblock mode): It is possible to bi-wire your suitable
loudspeakers when the M1 PWR is in monoblock mode. Your speakers must have a
least four terminals; two for the high frequency drivers and two more for the
low frequency drivers (any shorting-links between the high frequency and low
frequency terminals on your speaker must be removed). You will need a second M1
PWR to drive a pair of Bi-wired speakers.
Full-Range Frequency Response w/ High SNR: The M1 PWR's technical
performance will continue to impress with superb phase integrity, frequency
response (20-20k), and signal-to-noise measurements for stereo (>94dB) and
mono (>100dB) operation.
Low Distortion: The Musical Fidelity M1 PWR offers
extremely low distortion in stereo (<0.03%) or monoblock (<0.02%) mode.
Controls
Power Button w/ LED Indicators: The Musical Fidelity M1 PWR's features
a Power On/Off button with dual LEDs on its front-panel. The Power LED lights up
blue when the amp is turned on, and the Standby LED lights up orange when the
amp is turned off.
Stereo/Mono Switch: The M1 PWR's Stereo/Mono switch allows you to
configure the power amplifier for Stereo or Mono mode.
- Stereo Mode: Stereo mode allows the unit to be used as a standard
stereo (2-channel) amplifier.
- Mono Mode: Mono mode turn the unit into a more powerful monoblock
(1-channel) amplifier. A matching M1 PWR is required for stereo operation in
this mode.
Temp LED: The Temperature LED (red) will come on if the unit is
getting too hot internally. This could indicate excessively high current through
the speaker outputs. If the Temp LED comes on, maximum power output will be
internally reduced to allow the device to cool down. Continuous operation into
very low impedance/short circuit may cause the unit to show. In this case,
switch the unit and check wiring and speakers themselves for short circuits.
Allow the M1 PWR approximately 30 minutes to cool down before attempting to turn
it on again.
Connections
Stereo Analog Inputs: The Musical Fidelity M1 PWR power amplifier is
fitted with a set of analog audio stereo RCA inputs to connect your
preamplifier.
Note: When this unit is in Mono mode, only the Left input is
active and will accept an audio signal. The Right input is inoperative in
Mono mode.
Stereo Analog Outputs: The stereo analog outputs (loop output) allows for further or future
expansion. These outputs pass on the input signal totally unaffected. They
allows connection of external amplifier and powered subwoofer.
5-Way Binding Post Speaker Terminals: The Musical Fidelity M1 PWR is
fitted with four 5-way binding post speaker terminals that will accept bare
wire, pin-connectors, spade-connectors, and banana plugs (single or dual). The
four 5-way binding post speaker terminals are color coded (red/black) for easy
positive & negative identification.
Note: When this unit is switched to Mono mode, the Left &
Right Red speaker terminals are internally connected together. Similarly,
the Left & Right Black speaker terminals are also internally connected
together. As a result, the power from the two internal amplifiers is
combined to form a more powerful monoblock amp.
12V Trigger In/Out: The M1 PWR is fitted with a 12V trigger
input/output (3.5mm).
- Trigger Input: The M1 power can be switched on/off by remote
devices connected to its trigger input. The unit accepts 4 to 15V DC trigger
inputs.
- Trigger Output: The M1 PWR's power button will automatically
switch on/off all devices that are connected its trigger output.
Detachable AC Power Cord: The M1 PWR includes a 7' detachable 3-prong
AC power cord.
