This compact 18-200mm lens lets you record bright, crisp still shots or vivid HD video with Sony NEX-series cameras and camcorders. Its versatile 11X zoom range lets you make the most of virtually any shooting situation. You can zoom in close to your subjects — that's especially helpful when you plan on capturing sports or dance recitals from way back in the stands. And use its wide-angle capabilities to take panoramic photos of the countryside or fit a large group of people into a single frame. Built-in technology minimizes blurry photos
Sony's Optical Steady Shot™ image stabilization helps ensure your photos and videos will come out crisp in all different sorts of lighting conditions. Built-in motion sensors steer a special set of optical elements inside the lens, neatly compensating for camera movement and stabilizing the image. You get much sharper pictures — even in low-light conditions where slower shutter speeds and hand motion can easily cause blurred images with a regular lens.

Features

Optics: The Sony E 18-200mm F3.5-5.6 OSS zoom lens is compatible with the Sony α NEX-series interchangeable lens cameras. The lens has a 35mm equivalent focal length of 27-300mm, and a 78°-8° field of view for capturing close-up portraits and expansive landscapes. It also has a smooth and quiet Auto Focus operation.

Optical Steady Shot (OSS): This lens is compatible with the Optical SteadyShot Active Mode for shooting movies. This mode compensates for greater degrees of camera shake than the standard SteadyShot mode. The NEX-VG10 NEX-series video camera has Optical SteadyShot Active Mode.

Lens Hood: The lens includes the ALC-SH109 Lens Hood to reduce flare and ensure maximum image quality. The lens hood should be removed when using the camera's built-in flash to avoid blocking the flash light. You can store the lens hood by mounting it onto the lens backward.

Focusing: The lens can be used with the NEX-series cameras in the auto-focus, direct manual focus, or manual focus modes. You can switch between focusing modes in the camera menu.

Dimensions: The lens has the following dimensions: Diameter=2.97", Length=4.1" (without lens caps).

Great lens for a great camera

I love this camera system! This new lens will be the one I use most often, especially
when traveling. The need to lighten the load of gear is critical and this system is
ideal. The results are fantastic. The camera, with it's tilt screen, accepts lens
changes easily and provides the complete range of possibilities as an SLR without
the weight.

Awesome lens. 18-200, pretty much the only lens you really need for 90% of the
time. Clear crisp pictures at low light. Great for indoor sports pictures without
flash.

I love love the lens. The photos are amazing. I have 3 lenses made for my nex5, and this one
takes the best photos hands down. Clarity is amazing. The only negative, and its a big one,
is the camera does not lay flat when placed on a surface. The lens is too wide.
I still love it though.
