Why do I need an enclosure?

An enclosure is simply the box that houses your sub; sealed and ported enclosures are the most popular types. A sealed enclosure is usually smaller in size, sacrificing a little volume level to deliver more accurate bass. The ported enclosure features a vent which allows bass waves to escape from behind the mounted sub, augmenting the bass coming off the front of the sub. Ported boxes are louder, bigger, and a little less accurate. Every sub works best in the size and type of enclosure that's recommended by the manufacturer, so make sure you match your sub with the right box.

Sound Ordnance's rugged Bass Bunker enclosures come built to last and ready to help your sub deliver real low-frequency firepower. These unloaded boxes feature high-grade, medium-density fiberboard construction, with sealed inner braces that help combat resonance by reducing vibrations. Rounded outside corners and recessed panels allow them to fit into more vehicles, while tough black carpeting defends against incoming nicks and scratches. Bass Bunkers make a great solution when building your own box is not an option.

The BB10-125V ported enclosure holds one 10" subwoofer and offers an internal volume of 1.47 cubic feet. Its large vents feature rounded inner corners that keep port noise to a minimum for more accurate response. Just add the right sub, amp, and wiring, then mount the enclosure securely, and you're ready to hit the road with some real bass artillery in your arsenal.

Features

Materials: The Sound Ordnance BB10-125V Bass Bunker is an unloaded, hatchback-style ported enclosure for one 10" subwoofer. It is constructed of 5/8" MDF (medium-density fiberboard), covered in black carpet.

Internal Box Volume: The enclosure has 1.47 cubic feet of airspace.

Terminals: The BB10-125V is equipped with a pair of spring-post speaker terminals mounted in the rear panel. The spring terminals will accept bare wire up to 10 gauge, pin connectors, and single banana plugs, but are spaced too far apart for dual banana plugs. Inside the enclosure the terminal has an attached 24" length of speaker wire for connecting the subwoofer.

Brackets: Brackets for securing the enclosure to your vehicle are recommended.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

It a quality fabricated box, perfect fitment for the 10" Alpine Type R I put into it, and a nice volume at 1.5 cu ft. It's made from quality materials, is nicely carpeted, and has large speaker terminals (I have 10ga speaker wire running from the amp to speaker terminals and it fit like a glove).

Pros:

Quality, durable, appropriately described on Crutchfield, and a solid box for the price.

Cons:

Internal speaker wire is soldered so replacing it with larger gauge wire is a little hassle.

I bought this box to replace a several year old box that was beginning to split around the subwoofer mount and was a bit big for the new subwoofer that i had purchased. To start off I am running a single 10" Rockford Fosgate Punch P2 subwoofer with a Rockford Fosgate Punch P300-1 300W amplifier. I purchased this box because it was the ideal size for a vented box for the P2 subwoofer att around 1.39 cubic feet (subwoofer mounted and displacement subtracted). The box is well made, with good speaker wire pre-installed in the box (soldered to the posts of the terminal cup), it was easy to hook up and mount the subwoofer as I had actually drilled pilot holes for the screws to screw into which made mounting a bit easier. Now, sound quality: I'm pretty much an audiophile when it comes to my music, this box produces a loud, clean bass with little to no port noise. I was skeptical at first about having to ports on the box, but it turns out it sounds fantastic. As to the looks of the box it is wrapped in high quality carpet with the only thing being that the enclosure i received is more of a black color rather than the grey color shown on the website. This is perfectly okay for me because i personally like the look of the black in my car a lot better.

Pros:

Cons:

In the photo on the website it looks as if the inner joints of the box are caulked; however, the one i received looks to be sealed with a clear sealant (wood glue?) It doesn't make any difference really as the box is sealed at the joints real well (I know because my previous box was actually drilled into and didn't sound good at all).

Got this box to replace the one I got when I bought the vehicle. Actually it replaced 2. This box lets me run one 10 instead of two and hits twice as hard.
