Overview: The Niles Audio iWARE ES2 Extender System is a
wall-mount extender system for your iPod, that gives you plug-in capability from
another room as far away as 100 meters. It connects with either the Niles Audio IntelliControl ICS
or the Niles ZR-6 MultiZone Receiver. You can even incorporate the iWARE
SmartDock 2 (item # 190SMRTDK2) to hold your iPod and give you additional
functionality. Balanced/differential audio connections help preserve the audio
quality, and reject noise and hum pickup. The ES2 input and output wall plates
are designed to be installed in standard J-boxes, and connect to each other via dual
same-length runs of
Cat-5 cable (terminated with RJ45 plugs). Two white Decora cover plates and a
12-volt DC power supply are included.
iPod Compatibility: The Niles ES2 supports audio playback
and charging for the following iPods (as of Nov. 2009):
- iPod click-wheel (4th generation)
- iPod color-display (4th generation)
- iPod video (5th generation)
- iPod classic (80/120/160GB)
- iPod mini (1st/2nd generation)
- iPod nano (1st/2nd/3rd/4th/5th generation)
- iPod touch (1st/2nd/3rd generation)
iPod Charging: As long as the ES2 Extender System is
connected to the 12-volt power supply, either using the supplied AC/DC adapter
or in-wall on the backside of the input wall plate, your iPod's internal battery
is charged whenever it's connected. LEDs on the ES2's input and output wall
plates indicate whether the Extender System is connected to the 12-volt power
supply, and is capable of charging the iPod.
iWARE Connections: The ES2's Output Wall plate should be
mounted in-wall, close to your iPod-compatible Niles MultiZone System (IntelliControl
ICS or ZR-6 receiver). The supplied 2-meter iWARE cable connects the receiver to
the wall plate. In the remote iPod location, the ES2's Input Wall plate should
be mounted in a convenient location near where you would keep your iPod (or
connect the SmartDock2). The 2-meter iPod cable that came with your MultiZone
System directly connects your iPod to the Input Wall Plate. If you are using the
SmartDock2, the 2-meter iWARE cable supplied with the SmartDock2 connects the
SmartDock to the Input Wall plate.
Note: The 30-pin Niles connector on the iWARE cable and the 30-pin
iPod connector are not interchangeable. You must use the supplied cables.
