Improve the sound of the movies you shoot with your Sony NEX series camera. Sony's ECM-SST1 stereo microphone lets you record clearer, more detailed sound than you'd get with your cam's built-in mic, for crisp audio to match the detailed HD video. This microphone easily mounts to your NEX camera's accessory terminal and draws power from the camera itself, so you won't need to use any batteries.

A top-mounted switch on the microphone lets you select a wider or narrower field of sound to match shooting conditions. Choose 90° if your subject is relatively close and narrowly focused (like a person or two); choose 120° when recording a wider or more distant subject such as a sporting event, play, etc. The included wind screen helps reduce unwanted noise when shooting outdoors.

    Compatibility: The Sony ECM-SST1 Stereo Microphone is compatible with Sony NEX-series interchangeable lens digital cameras, including the NEX-3 and NEX-5.

    Smart Accessory Terminal: The Sony Stereo Microphone connects to your Sony NEX-series digital camera's smart accessory terminal and derives power from the camera body (no additional batteries required).

    Auto-Switch: When the microphone is attached to the compatible Sony digital camera, the camera automatically switches from the built-in microphone to the external microphone.

    Stereo Sound: The Sony Stereo Microphone enables natural sound pick-up, delivering a stereo sound image with superb clarity.

    Selectable Directivity: You can manually select the directivity of sound between 90 and 120 degrees.

    • 90-Degree: Use the 90-degree setting when picking up a sound with a narrow soundstage, or a distance sound (conversation, solo instruments, etc).
    • 120-Degree: Use the 120-degree setting when picking up a sound with a wide soundstage, or a nearby sound (concert, theatrical performance, etc).

    Wind Screen: An included wind screen helps to reduce wind noise.
