The resulting technology produces speakers with smooth frequency response, sharp detail, and the ability to play music at high volumes without strain.

Polk's db691 speakers feature 6"x9" woofers made from a polymer/mica composite and durable rubber surrounds that won't fall apart under stress from heat, moisture, or time. Liquid-cooled 1" silk/polymer dome tweeters use powerful Neodymium magnets to deliver precise high-frequency reproduction, enveloping you in bright musical detail. The 3/4" dome supertweeters add even more sparkle to reproduce your music's natural intricacies. The built-in two-way crossovers keep the high and low frequencies flowing to the proper drivers for seamless, efficient audio.

Dynamic Balance: Dynamic Balance is a proprietary Polk Audio technology using laser imaging to determine what combination of speaker materials create the least amount of resonance. Eliminating resonance in speakers results in a wide, smooth response and low distortion.

Woofer Cones: Each speaker features a Dynamic Balance polymer/mica composite mineral-filled cone. The cones are stiff and lightweight for big sound and low distortion.

Butyl Rubber Surrounds: For a smoother response and improved durability, the woofers use butyl rubber surrounds.

Kapton Voice Coil Former: The low-mass two-layer 25mm Kapton Voice Coil former is lightweight for high sound output. Kapton's high melting temperature (725°F) ensures high power handling and longer reliability.

Silk/Polymer Composite Tweeter and Super Tweeter: The speakers feature 1" liquid-cooled, silk/polymer composite tweeters and 3/4" liquid-cooled, silk/polymer composite super-tweeters for clearer, more accurate mids and highs.

2-way Crossover Network: The built-in 2-way crossover network sends the appropriate frequencies to each driver for cleaner sound and better imaging.

Flat Spider: The speaker utilizes a flat spider for faster, longer excursion linear motion.

Pole Plate Heat Sink: The speaker's pole plate heat sink promotes better heat dissipation for superior power handling and reliability.

Woven Leads: The speaker features flexible woven leads sewn directly into the spider for greater reliability.

Basket: The speaker is housed in a solid, acoustically inert stamped steel basket finished in rustproof gun metal gray.

I purchased these 6x9 Polks to replace factory speakers in my 08 Dodge Ram. The fit was perfect and went very smooth. The overall sound quality is great with my Kenwood HU. The bass is respectable, but I added a powered sub to this install anyway.

the directions that i received to remove the door panel were wrong , you lift the door panel up to remove, you do not pull it out or you will break the the panel itself.

Very clear sound

Installed these in my 05 Dodge Ram's front doors today, connected to an Alpine CDE-HD138BT. They have a very, very clear and clean sound. They get very loud even running on just my HU's power. I'm not getting a ton of bass, but they're brand new and aren't being given a ton of power, so that could be part of the issue. I imagine more wattage would help, but honestly i can't imagine how loud the rest of the audio spectrum would be with 100 watts being sent to them. It would be seriously deafening! In any case, these combined with DB351's in the dash make for sound that is tremendously cleaner and clearer than my stock "Infinity" system.

As an aside, Crutchfield says these don't fit in an 05 Dodge Ram and I have no idea why. They fit easily and with room to spare, both in front of and behind the speaker. You just have to reuse the stock speakers' mounting spacers. Crutchfield really should add these to the speakers that show up for an 05 Dodge Ram under "outfit my car".

Pros:

Very sensitive. Clear and accurate sound. Fit well in an 05 Dodge Ram front doors.

Cons:

Not a lot of bass in my application, but that could be due to them not being broken in and not receiving a lot of power from my HU (18 watts per channel RMS).

beautiful little speakers

I actually had to wait for a few months to buy these because Crutchfield was out of stock. Totally worth the wait. They sound pretty close to perfect. I listen to all types of music, from hiphop and electronic stuff to folk and rock. Clear mids and highs and a nice little oomph of bass. Installed them in like 25 minutes into my honda civic hatch. If you're into like crazy boomy bass then you will definitely need an amp and sub, but these bang on if you're into clear and precise sounding music. For the price, this is a great product. I'm a new fan of Polk.

I also have to say that Crutchfield seriously rocks. I ordered on a Sunday and they arrived Tuesday morning, free shipping was awesome. The guys from Crutchfield called me (because I typed in my address wrong) and were super nice and accommodating on the phone. Crutchfield is the best, don't bother ordering from anyone else.

Pros:

Easy to install, great mids, really clean bass, an awesome upgrade for your system.

Replaced (4) factory speakers- These 6x9's up front sound better, especially at HIGH volume, than all 4 of the stock speakers. Even impressed with the bass and mid response. Installation was simple and smooth, all the adapters were perfect, instructions spot on and easy to follow. I did forget to secure the wiring adapter, which adds about 6" of wire inside the door, so my window rubbed it on the way down. Easy fix and I was warned ahead of time, just forgot.

Pros:

Crisp and clear at high volume- mostly listen to metal. FFDP, Sevenfold, Metallica, etc. I used to stop volume increase at point of distortion, now I stop because it's too loud. VERY happy with bass.

Cons:

Little worried about the tweeter, which pushes slightly on the factory door grille. Too soon to tell if it will cause damage.

I bought these speakers for my Honda to replace a set of Kickers I had installed years back. In the first week they were installed they didn't impress me too much but after a couple weeks of break-in they have some great sound and even add a bit of bass (I don't have a sub currently). I have them paired with a 300W Rockford Fosgate 4 channel amp and have a Polk Component System in the front on the same amp. With this setup the sound is crisp, clear and loud.

After reading the other reviews on your site, I felt like I was taking a chance
when I bought these, but I love these speakers! I have them in the front door
panels of my pickup, pushed by a Bazooka amp, and they produce the clearest,
deepest sound I've gotten from many sets of speakers I've bought over the
years. They have enough low end on the hip-hop stuff to rattle the doors and
yet produce some really piercing highs listening to rock and the occassional
diva track, but they really shine when they get to show how effortlessly they
can do both at once on more complex jazz and country pieces. I couldn't be
happier! Kudos to Polk for a fine product

Great sound, solid base, good clarity and image in the higher frequencies. I am
powering these with a RockFord fosgate 100W amp, so that doesn't hurt my impression.
Have them mounted on the rear deck with the 4" 2 ways in the front doors. I'm very

These speakers are something else! I purchased these after being VERY disappointed
with "kickers " that some reps sugested were great ( I returned those) These speakers have
lots of CLEAN bass and blend in well with the highs and mids from my front components. I
have them hooked to a Rockford Fosgate amp, however I have to keep the gain below half. I
believe these things would push lots of bass from any deck with or without an amp. The
Kickers I tried were way too high on the highs and distorted on lows even at moderate
volume. When you call, I recomend KEVIN at EXT 4043 as a good rep.

Great Speakers

Amazing sound out of these speakers. I was concerned about the sound I was
going to get after reading a number of reviews about needing an amp to power
them. I have this hooked up to my stock deck in a 2006 Dodge Ram. I added the
Polk Audio DB651s for the rear speakers, but honestly they are not needed. The
highs and the lows that come out of these 6x9's is very impressive. The fact
that they have a built in crossover is nice, the bass comes through very clean
leaving the highs loud and crisp.
