Typical HDTVs display video at 60 frames per second, also referred to as "60Hz." LCD TVs with 120Hz refresh rate double that rate to 120 video frames per second, usually by creating 60 new frames and inserting them between the original 60 frames. LCD models with 240Hz refresh rate double the frame rate again. Because each frame appears for a shorter time, on-screen motion looks smoother, with less blur.
