Pioneer Stage 4 PRS Component Speaker System

The TS-C172PRS component system features a 6-3/4" woofer with an exceptionally rigid cone made from polypropylene, Aramid fibers, and glass fibers. The woofer's lightweight micro-fiber surround — Pioneer calls it "artificial suede" — holds its shape even when the speaker's driven hard, so you'll enjoy strong, accurate performance. An aluminum center plug improves sound dispersion and dissipates heat for a longer life.

Wide high-frequency performance

Each 1-1/8" polyester soft dome tweeter features a sealed chamber that extends its frequency response much lower than the typical tweeter, for a better transition from the lows to the highs. The lower crossover point also helps to open up the sound as more sonic details are broadcast from the tweeter.

The TS-C172PRS system includes outboard 2-way crossovers built with audiophile-grade components to ensure the highest fidelity. You can choose between two tweeter levels to adjust for the most natural sound in your vehicle. IMX Woofer: Pioneer's proprietary 3-Layer IMX (Injection Molded Matrix) cones are rigid yet lightweight; they significantly reduce mid-to-low range distortion and reproduce a natural sound stage. The woofers' set screw terminals accept bare wire up to 12 gauge.

Mounting: Out of the box the TS-C172PRS's woofers are designed to mount in a standard 4-hole 6-3/4" opening. The included adapter brackets allow the woofers to mount in standard 3-hole 6-1/2" and Ford style 4-hole 6-1/2" applications. When top mounting the woofer, the bracket is attached to the bottom of the flange; to bottom mount the woofer, attach the bracket to the top of the flange.

Tweeters

Soft-Dome Tweeter: The TS-C172PRS component set includes two 1-1/8" soft-dome tweeters with dual neodymium magnets (total weight 0.75 ounces). Pioneer extends tweeter performance to a lower frequency than is typical, creating fuller midrange fidelity and clear, accurate vocals.

Mounting: The tweeters can be flush-mounted using the supplied metal clamps. The supplied plastic mounting cups allow you to surface mount the tweeters in an aftermarket location or mount the tweeters in a factory tweeter location behind a factory installed grille. The surface mounting cups let you position the tweeters at one of two angles, approximately 45° or 15°. Once installed, the tweeters do not swivel.

Crossovers

Passive Crossover Network: The TS-C172PRS features an audiophile-grade outboard passive crossover module for each woofer/tweeter combination. The crossover modules are 2-way with a crossover point of 1,900 Hz and 12dB/octave slope.

Crossover Connections: The gold-plated set screw input and output terminals will accept bare wire up to 12 gauge. Note: No speaker wire or quick slides are provided with the speakers.

Tweeter Level Control: The crossover provides three tweeter level output options; -3 dB, 0 dB (flat), and +3 dB.

Mounting: There are four supplied self-tapping screws for mounting the crossovers in your vehicle.
