Features
Marine Tested: JL Audio's marine subwoofers go through ultraviolet
testing chambers (to simulate years of sun exposure) and salt fog chambers (to simulate
years of exposure to salt-water environments) and are built to withstand the rigors of
marine use.
Woofer: The subwoofer features an injection-molded, mica-filled
polypropylene cone woofer with a synthetic rubber surround specifically formulated
for marine use.
DMA (Dynamic Motor Analysis): JL Audio's proprietary Dynamic
Motor Analysis (DMA) technology results in ultra-linear motor force over a long
range of excursion and a wide range of power inputs to reduce distortion and
improve sound quality.
Infinite-Baffle Operation: The M10IB3 is optimized for
infinite-baffle operation so that it can be installed in a variety of locations,
without the need for a dedicated enclosure.
Polymer Basket And Grille: The polymer basket and grille are
corrosion and UV-resistant, and the basket encapsulates the motor assembly to
prevent corrosion.
Connections: The speaker terminals are 0.25" wide gold-plated,
marine-grade brass, male quick slide connections.
Mounting Hardware: Marine-grade stainless-steel mounting screws
and washers are included.
Box Type: If mounting in an enclosure, JL Audio recommends a
2.0 ft³ sealed box. The M10IB3 should not be mounted in a ported enclosure.
Grille: The woofer is shipped with the grille attached (using
three screws). The grille can be removed, but the woofer can be installed without
removing the grille. If the woofer is mounted without the grille, several measurements
are different:
- Mounting Height: changes from
1.469" to 0.791"
- Flange Height: changes from
1.065" to 0.5"
- Frame Diameter: changes from
10.734" to 10.382"
