Good music becomes great when you hear it through Polk's db Series car speakers. Polk engineers use laser imaging to determine the ideal combination of speaker materials and design to eliminate distortion. The resulting technology produces speakers with smooth frequency response, sharp detail, and the ability to play music at high volumes without strain.

Polk's db651s shallow-mount speakers feature 6-1/2" woofers made from a polymer/mica composite and durable rubber surrounds that stand up to heat and moisture. Liquid-cooled 3/4" silk/polymer dome tweeters use powerful Neodymium magnets to deliver precise high-frequency reproduction. With a 2" mounting depth, these speakers can fit into some tight places. The built-in two-way crossovers keep the high and low frequencies flowing to the proper drivers for seamless, efficient audio.

    Dynamic Balance: Dynamic Balance is a proprietary Polk Audio technology using laser imaging to determine what combination of speaker materials create the least amount of resonance. Eliminating resonance in speakers results in a wide, smooth response and low distortion.

    Woofer Cones: Each speaker features a Dynamic Balance polymer/mica composite mineral-filled cone. The cones are stiff and lightweight for big sound and low distortion.

    Butyl Rubber Surrounds: For a smoother response and improved durability, the woofers use butyl rubber surrounds.

    Kapton Voice Coil Former: The low-mass Kapton Voice Coil former is lightweight for high sound output. Kapton's high melting temperature (725°F) ensures high power handling and longer reliability.

    Silk/Polymer Composite Tweeters: The 3/4" liquid-cooled, silk/polymer composite tweeters provide clear, detailed highs. The tweeters use neodymium magnets.

    2-way Crossover Network: The built-in 2-way crossover network sends the appropriate frequencies to each driver for cleaner sound and better imaging.

    Review of my Polk Audio db651s speakers.

    The speakers perform exactly as expected. I had to replace the "Infinity" Speakers in the rear doors of my 2000 Dakota Quad Cab because one of them went belly up and started making scratchy noises on base notes. The replacement from Chrysler cost about $175 (for one speaker!!) so I decided good old Crutchfield was the sensible way to go. I got both of the db651s's (to have a matched set of course) for $100 complete with wire connectors, speaker mount adaptors and very good instructions. Nothing could have been easier and like I said before, they performed as good or better than the old speakers.
    Pros:
    Excellent quality, both for the money and compared to the much more expensive Chrysler "Infinity" speakers.
    Cons:
    It would be nice if the speakers came with some sort of dust filter over the cone like the "Infinity" speakers have.

    Great little speakers, didn't even bother hooking them up the the 4 channel amp in the trunk. Nice mids and highs. I feel like they are very easy to blow so I am very careful about how much power I give them.

    These are a great replacement speaker to upgrade from factory speakers. They have nice highs and well defined mids, although they are lacking in the bass (that is what the sub is for). Installation was almost perfect with the supplied wiring harness connector and adapter installation ring. The only issue when installing is that depending on the spacing of the existing holes in your vehicle, you might have to file/drill/cut the slot in the adapter ring to get the holes to line up.

    I've had these speakers installed for 4 months in my rear deck of my Malibu Classic. I installed them myself with the Crutchfield included factory wire harness adapter and speaker mounting brackets. They are powered by a Kenwood Excelon KDC-X395. Let me tell you, these speakers are AWESOME! Produces good Lows and Crisp Highs. The Mids are clear as well although lost a little in comparison to the Lows. They are fairly punchy but if you want Bass that will kick you in the chest, install a sub. That is my next step. Great speakers, even at very high volumes

    I installed these speakers in a 2004 Silverado extended cab. I also put the 4x6 Polk plate speakers of the same series in the back for even sound They really brought added depth and clarity to the system. When the system is properly tuned, the result is impressive given suck small speakers.
    Pros:
    Easy install. They look great. Very good frequency range. Better than expected performance at higher volumes.
    Cons:
    The mounting kit supplied from Crutchfied (for free I might add) allows for some looseness when the speakers are installed in the door. This creates a rattle at certain bass frequencies. I suggest adding a couple of extra screws to secure the mounting plates, or using some foam as a cushion under the mounting plates. The back speakers had foam baffles, and there was not problems with them.

    I bought these spreakers for rear doors of my 08 Ram 1500 to replace factory wizzer-cones. The Polks fit perfect and add a very nice overall balanced sound to my Kenwood HU. I am very pleased. Do not expext shallow 6 1/2s to produce a ton of bass, but the overal sound quality is very good. I added a powered sub to fill out the bass in this installation.

    I have had these speakers for about 1 week now and they are doing Good. Very good Highs and Mids and the Bass is ok. Jeep factories had around the same amount of Bass but these PS's handle a little more volume with less distortion because there is some. I have them running off a JVC KD-X250BT Digital Media Reciever which i really like and even on the "normal" setting i get some distortion. but they are definetly a good speaker with nice crisp sound. 4 stars cause i have tried multiple setting to get great sound but have not found it yet. Shipment came on time, Good Quality, easy install even having to drill holes and Crutch sent me everything i needed. Thanks and i WOULD Definetly recommend these.

    Installed these in the front doord of my Honda Accord 1997 VP along witg doubd ordinance 2 way 6x9 in the rear deck. I did not want to change factory radio and these a re a great improvement over stock speakers. Mush cleaner,clearer and a bit louder. Total install time 1/2 hour. Just basic tools needed. Crutchfield supplies all adapters brackets and step by step instructions. For the price I am amazed at the sound difference. Tight bass and clean clear highs, NO Distortion, You will love this set up, Looking forward to adding a speaker level amp next for the extra boost. thanks Crutchfield.

    Got these for the back on my 2011 Tundra. Site says they won't fit but I had no problems. I had them swap the adapters to the back and they did with no questions asked. Install was a breeze. Sound good. If you want bass get a sub.

    Great Sound Quality for the Price

    Have four of these hooked up to my JVC KD-A735BT receiver in my 2002 Honda CR-V. The instructions and mounting harness kits that came free with these (this is why I love you, Crutchfield!) worked very well, solid installation. As for the speakers, the highs and mids sound amazing for the price. Bass is alright, sounds crisp with the music I listen to (Rock, Ska, Reggae) but if you listen to a lot of Hip Hop/Rap with deep, loud bass, you're going to want to either hook a sub up to your system and send all the bass to that or find speakers with better bass than these.

    Easy installation, Overall crisp, clean and accurate sound, amazing mids (especially for the price), Quality materials used making these

    These speakers or exceptional if you are ONLY replacing your factory speakers and using your EOM deck. I, on the other hand, amped these speakers on an aftermarket deck and within 6 months they blew. They have a VERY SMALL magnet, so if you are looking for comp sound and longevity....these are not your speakers. I am not bashing the quality! They sound excellent as a EOM replacement, but if you are looking to step up the volume consider another set like the Kicker Comp.
