System Features

Instant Home Theater (IHT): The Polk Audio SurroundBar 3000 Instant Home Theater (IHT) is a complete 2.1-channel home theater system comprised of a single self-powered speaker, a wireless powered subwoofer, and an IR remote control. The SurroundBar 3000 IHT utilizes Polk Digital Logic (Polk's Proprietary DSP Technology) to deliver richer, fuller sound (with no rear speakers) to your flat-panel TV from a compact system with no complex hook-up or set-up.

Polk Digital Logic: The SurroundBar 3000 Instant Home Theater utilizes Polk Digital Logic (Polk's proprietary DSP programming) to deliver big, crisp sonic performance with no complicated setup or calibration. Through Polk Digital Logic, the SurroundBar 3000 IHT's sound is created independent of any room boundaries. Polk Digital Logic helps to maintain a solid center channel for clear, intelligible dialogue and Polk's signature warm & full sound.

Self-Powered SurroundBar: The self-powered surroundbar features two 2" x 6" full-range drivers powered by a built-in 50 watt x 2-channel amplifier. The speaker itself is lightweight in part because of the neodymium magnet structures in the drivers. The surroundbar features a black plastic enclosure with non-removable metal grille. The surroundbar can be placed on a tabletop or wall-mounted. It provides analog and digital audio connections to your television. The surroundbar requires AC power.

Wireless Powered Subwoofer: The wireless powered subwoofer features a down-firing 6.5" woofer and down-firing port in a bass-reflex (ported) cabinet. The 6.5" woofer is powered by a built-in 80 watt amplifier. The wireless powered subwoofer receives it audio signal wirelessly from the system's surroundbar, so there is no subwoofer cable to connect. The wireless powered subwoofer requires AC power.

Controls

System Controls: The SurroundBar 3000 IHT offers the following system functions - Power, Surroundbar Volume, Subwoofer Volume, Source Selection, and Mute. You can control these functions from the Surroundbar's touch-sensitive controls, included remote control, or your TV's programmable remote control.

Touch-Sensitive Controls: The touch-sensitive buttons on the front of the surroundbar are easy to use.

Remote Control: The included IR wireless remote provides wireless operation of the SurroundBar 3000 IHT.

Programmable TV Remote: You can program the SurroundBar 3000 IHT to respond to your existing TV's remote.

Channel ID: The channel ID switches on the rear-panel of the surroundbar and subwoofer need to be set to the same channel (1-4).

Connections

Analog & Digital Connections: The surroundbar features one optical digital input and two stereo 3.5mm inputs to connect the system to your flat-panel TV.

Analog Connections: The surroundbar is equipped with two analog 3.5mm stereo inputs to connect your television (which may lack an optical digital output). If your TV is equipped with stereo RCA outputs, you will need a mini-to-RCA adapter cable. The additional 3.5mm stereo input can be used to connect another audio device, such as your MP3 player.

Digital Connection: The surroundbar also features an optical digital input to connect your flat-panel TV with an optical digital output (optical digital cable included). The surroundbar only supports 2-channel PCM through its optical digital input (not Dolby Digital).

Note: If your television does not support 2-channel PCM through its optical digital output, you will need to connect the SurroundBar 3000 IHT using the analog 3.5mm stereo input.

Mounting Options

Placement Options: The SurroundBar 3000 Instant Home Theater offers various placement & mounting options for the surroundbar & wireless powered subwoofer.

Surroundbar Placement: The surroundbar should be centered under or above your TV screen. The lightweight easy-to-mount single speaker can be placed on a tabletop or wall-mounted. It can sit on a flat surface because of its attached rubber pads that enable it to rest securely. If your TV is wall-mounted, the surroundbar can be mounted right beneath it using the speaker's integrated keyhole slots (x2) on the rear-panel.

Wireless Subwoofer Placement: The powered subwoofer receives its signal from the surroundbar wirelessly, so it can be placed virtually anywhere in the room (up to 50' from surroundbar). It only requires plugging into an AC outlet.

Power Requirements

Power Supply: Both the surroundbar and wireless powered subwoofer require an AC outlet connection using the supplied AC power supply and AC power cords.

Auto Power: When their master power switches are left on, the amplifiers in both the surroundbar and subwoofer turn on automatically when the surroundbar receives an audio signal. Both amplifiers turn off after approximately 15 minutes without an audio signal.

Great sound, easy to use I do not use stereo surround any longer

Great sound! Easy to use! I no longer use the expensive home stereo surround theater any longer, which by-the-way does not sound as good; to the Cave it goes!

Pros:

easy connection, wireless subwoofer beats the one I used previously

Cons:

I tried to use it as an auxiliary for my XM portable, and my wireless speakers through-out my house, I couldn't get sound due to wireless speakers requiring auxiliary connection, I tried a 2:1 aux connector, no luck, could be me?

Only two complaints. Patch cord for RCA plugs was a very low quality. Mounting template for soundbar was not actual size. Would have been a great help. Otherwise sound is great, sub woofer excellent

It fits very well in front of the TV. Easy to set up. It look very nice don't really notice it is there

Pros:

There is not much of an improvement. One reason that I may not have seen much of an audio improvement is I have have a high end LG SMART TV??

Cons:

The audio improvement is only 10% over TV speakers. I can not tell much Bass at all even if I have max Bass setting. The polk remote must be used for Bass setting. I have Direct TV and the Direct TV remote can be programed to control the sound bar if your TV does not Use a" Wand" remote, my LG has a "Wand remote,therefore I can't prg the Direct TV remote.

Just what I needed to upgrade from the cruddy on board speakers on my Samsung 35 inch LED TV. Only disputing thing that is keeping my review from being 5 stars is the fact the into does not program right to work with my DirecTV remote or the Samsung TV remote. Other than that little nuisance this is a great little sound bar and wireless sub woofer setup.

Has a real nice sound as one would expect. Easy to hook up. One problem was programming my tv remote to the sound bar. Had to call crutchfield, they did not have the answer. Called polk audio and out I could not use my Direct tv universal remote. It had to be a samsung ir(infra red) remote. I used my samsung blue ray player remote, as my samsung tv remote sent only radio frequencies and not ir.

Cons:

Can't control subwoofer with tv remote.

Purchased after comparing similar models, couldn't pass on the price and quality. Connections were perfect for first gen 1080i projection tv. Sub is what was really needed however the soundbar does have decent ranges considering what it is.

Have it hooked up in a medium size room and sounds great. Tremendously helped with the sound quality of my Samsung LED TV. I can't say it truly is like having 5 surround speaker around you but it overall is very good.

I have 3 of these sound bar, they sound great for the money. night and day difference compared to the TV's built in speaker. I wish the subwoofer was wired instead of being wireless for 2 reasons, 1st the sub needs to be close to the soundbar and tv for best sound so wireless is pointless and 2nd the sub being wireless will pick up signal interference so you have to constantly change frequency.

Pros:

great sound bar with decent bass when it's on sale. Easy remote programing.

Cons:

Power on light is too bright and wireless interference, sometimes the sub will make a thumping sound on its own even when everything's off. The wife thought our house was possesed and one night I though there was a burglar up in the attic until i figured it was the sub making all those noises..

I purchased this unit for my bedroom because I wanted a sound bar with a sub woofer. It worked fine, but then I experienced a constant rumbling sound from the sub woofer. I contacted Crutchfield customer service who instructed me to change channels on the back of the sub woofer which fixed the problem. They responded to me in less than a day. By the way this unit was on sale which gave me the impetus to purchase it.

Pros:

Great sound for a smaller TV and room.

Cons:

You may have to adjust sub woofer channel if you have a problem, but Crutchfield is happy to work with you.

I needed to upgrade the sound on our LCD Tv so I got the sound bar with wireless sub from Polk. To be honest it's best for Blue Ray movies and music channels but for TV shows I usually turn off the sub because it just doesn't sound right-distortion of low tones or unusual sounds from the sub. If I knew all this before hand I probably would have purchased a different system but for the price it's ok. I've owned Polk electronics before so I purchased this system based on my past experiences. I'm somewhat disappointed because I can't use the whole system all the time.

Pros:

Easy to set up. Nice sounds with the right programs.

Cons:

Make sure your digital optical supports PCN only it doesn't work with Dolby Surround. Sub sounds distorted with certain programs.

Getting DirecTV Remote Working

I see a lot of reviews saying it wont work with the DirecTV remote, there is an easy fix. Program it using the remote your tv came with! The directv remote has a weird delay built in, that's why it will not program correctly. The DTV remote is already setup for your tv, so use your stock remote and program the polk unit and the directv remote will control the vol up/down mute and power options just fine.

Pros:

Good sound, 2.1 setup is easy and sounds fine with movies and games and really shines with music. Sub works great for me, turn on tune in and drop out.

Cons:

Unit is taller than I thought it was going to be and couldn't be placed in front on the same surface my tv sits on, luckily I had more room below and also mounting options if I desired.
